Sunday, I cleaned out my closet. With travel and busy schedules, my closet was looking very much like my high school bedroom, where I no longer knew the color of my carpet due to the piles of clothes, shoes, and junk. In cleaning, I found this fabulous top that Karen Kane was kind enough to send me a couple months ago. It's a Medium when I normally wear a large, and I am thrilled it comfortably fits over the bust but is a bit snug over the booty. I did my belt trick and created a bit of a peplum. The fabric is perfect for the humidity as it doesn't cling and floats with any passing breeze.

These shoes are a STEAL at 6pm. I like Fitzwell because they have extended sizes (wide widths and wide calfs for their tall boots), but they also have strategically placed heels to reduce pressure and to make it easier to walk with such height. First day wearing them and no issue walking to the office, pretty impressive!

  1. Random message on an old post–those shoes were sold out the other day in my size, but I guess they did a popback or something, because this morning I looked again and there was one pair in my size and ready to be swooped up! I did because new black pumps were on my list and for $30, that was almost better than getting my existing slingbacks reheeled. I am so excited! Great find!

    1. Sadly it is, they sent it to me at the beginning of the season and I’m not surprised it sold out. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see similar pieces from Karen Lane in the future, I’ll share here if there’s one if I feature this tank again, but doesn’t hurt to check the Karen Kane site every so often since they feature new merchandise often 🙂

  2. I am really intrigued with your faux peplum belt trick! I’m going to have to try that out – I have a few longer tops/short dresses that might look awesome with a belt like that! I really love this outfit, as a whole. That skirt looks awesome on you 🙂

  3. Very nice outfit! I love the shirt; it’s super fun yet can still be work in a professional setting. You always have the best “work” outfits…I love it!

  4. The plus side of cleaning out the closet – to find things that have been forgotten 🙂 I like how you belted to create a “peplum”.

  5. That’s a cute dress-substitute.
Didn’t you have a clear belt stretch that was good for boyfriend years that are baggy at the waist in one photo?
My gripe with leather belts is that sometimes they swivel around during the day and you have to adjust them to keep the blousing even. I wonder whether that a clear elastic belt, which wouldn’t matter because you’re not supposed to “see” the belt anyway, would work here.

    1. The belt I have for boyfriend jeans is denim colored. The belt I used is black elastic with two gold snaps in front – it was the original belt that came with a leopard-print dress I own but has now become the belt I wear when I don’t want the belt to show. 🙂 Clear would work quite well in this situation!

  6. One of the first things I noticed was your heels. They look like they fit so well! I guess that’s why they call them ‘fitzwell’ haha ;)! Off to see if they have my size…
