It's dangerous writing capsule wardrobes. I spend so much time researching pieces I see the benefits, I have the time to envision them in my wardrobe… and sometimes I buy them. And that's what happened with this Boden Ponte blazer after writing my low-maintenance workwear capsule wardrobe!
I also bought the matching pants, but they're backordered. I have a hot pink pantsuit (I showed it on the blog when I wore it to the rewardStyle conference) and it has gotten a surprising amount of wear. I've worn the blazer alone, worn the pants alone, but together as a suit it's been pretty perfect for a variety of events. That suit is wool, this one is Ponte, so it's going to have a different effect. I can't wait to style it with some leopard print heels!
Anyway, back to this look, sans pants. Karl and I had a quick getaway to National Harbor. It was Restaurant Week and we were invited to try some of their awesome restaurants (stay tuned, the review should be Thursday if I get all my ducks in a row). We did a lot of outfit shoots (which you'll see through this month), but we also did some normal person sightseeing and for that my leopard pumps and cute skirts were not going to cut it. But a Ponte blazer, stretch jeans, and super comfy boots would. This is the same tee I wore in Friday's post, the same jeans from this outfit post, and the same boots and bag from yesterday. Lots of stretch, great for walking, sitting, being out all day, and also shopping (I stopped in The Pinkwell, a boutique in National Harbor that has regular and plus size fashion and tried on lots of clothes).
As for the bag, I've now worn it in several outfit posts. At first I didn't like it. It comes with a leather strap and I envisioned using that with the chain one hanging down looking tough yet chic. But the leather strap is really stiff and wide and while it says its length can be adjusted it can't. And then I thought this bag is super small, I need more space for stuff. But then I tried it… and just like when we moved into our smaller home back in 2000 I realized a lot of the stuff I had I didn't really need. This bag has three compartments and a small zipper pocket and its flap closes with a magnet. The zipper pouch holds my ID, check card, cash, and important things like that. The front pocket holds my phone and sunglasses. Middle pocket holds lipstick, lip balm, and a tiny brush. Back pocket holds random other things (a Kleenex, pack of gum, some receipts) and my keys. I tied my scarf onto it to switch up the look. the look right now is short-strapped crossbody bags (or even wearing a fanny pack as a crossbody) and I always found the look odd… until I tried it. It's a super convenient height to grab things easily, and it's also more secure (no one will pickpocket your boob).

Black tank from Jessica Chaus, which I got at Marshall’s during the first trimester of my pregnancy. I loved it then because it wasn’t maternity, but worked with my changing shape. It was funny, after I had Emerson I tried on this tank and it looked so DUMPY, I was surprised. I now realize it…
Last week I had lots of great content. I accomplished so much at work and on the blog I went into the weekend on a high. After so many months of struggling to balance everything, it felt amazing to be able to do it all and do it well. And now it’s Tuesday and I…

Keep your feedback about the update of this site coming! This week, I have been playing with the font. Many of you found the font too light, and I changed the color to black, but the thin style was still hard to read, especially on mobile. While the current font isn’t, as my daughter says,…

This suit is no stranger to Wardrobe Oxygen. The first time it was on the blog was in March of 2016 and I’ll be honest, it was a bit snug. The fabric is stretchy so it did stretch a bit with time but the jacket always pulled a bit across the shoulders. The pants are…
Based on your wardrobe essentials a while ago, I bought this blazer in black (size 12, a bit roomy). I love the weight of it. And just last week I ordered the pants (size 12, a bit snug!) to match too. Someday I’ll branch out with a vivid colored suit! Sticking to basics until I can build my wardrobe back up. Loving the green on you!
Or if you do get pickpocketed with the fanny pack as a cross body, at least you also get the advantage of a little groping…haha!!
XOXO

It seems to me that you wear 12s and 14s in most clothing items. That you picked 16 in the Boden blazer suggests to me that Boden runs small. Would you agree?
