Lands' End Presidents Day Sale: My Picks
Lands' End has been one of my favorite places to shop for decades, not just for stellar outerwear and swimwear, but great apparel, bags, homegoods, and more. Below I share my picks from this Lands' End sale and what I personally own or may buy during this promotion.
This is the Sale to Shop Outerwear and Winter Gear
If this winter has you feeling cold and unprepared, this is the sale for you. Get a great coat, boots, snow pants, gloves, and the rest at a great price. With Lands' End you know you're getting performance gear that will last.

For example, I got the Squall parka in the aughts before I started Wardrobe Oxygen. I just replaced it this winter with the upgraded 3-in-1 Squall because I appreciated the versatility (and tbh, Lands' End offered to send me one).
The new one can be just the shell (which is water and windproof and fits over my bulky fleeces and other jackets), just the lining as a lightweight quilted jacket, or the two combined for great warmth. But I washed my old Squall, which was still in excellent condition, and gave it to a coat drive, knowing it will still perform for another.

Another Lands' End coat I swear by is the Squall Packable Waterproof Raincoat. I got mine in 2022 and it has been such a lifesaver. It has been camping, on boats, the beach, stuffed into suitcases and totebags, worn over shorts and t-shirts as well as heavy sweaters and jeans, and even protected me and my pajamas during a major storm when a tree fell in our backyard.
This past summer, I got one for my daughter as she kept borrowing mine! If you prefer a print, it also comes in stripes and florals. And if you would prefer something a bit longer, Lands' End has this alternative.

Other winter items I recommend?
- A pair of duck boots, which can work for snow or slush or mud or rain and are perennially stylish
- Thermaskin base layers, which are easy-care, comfortable, and add serious warmth without looking like long underwear. You can easily take off your fleece and not look undressed, and the leggings are stellar under maxi dresses and wide-leg jeans.
- Personally, I am so glad a few years ago I bought bib snow pants. I share them with my daughter; they go sledding, are ready for shoveling, ski and snowboarding trips, snow tubing, and winter protests. If pants are more your jam, Lands' End also has them. It's rare to find bibs in petite, tall, and plus size!
- If, unlike me, you are not allergic to down, the wanderweight packable down jackets and coats are stellar. They are lightweight but warm, water-resistant, beautifully designed to look really good on the body. I wish I could get this one in bright cherry!
- The cashmere-lined leather gloves are really luxe; I have a pair and love them and they come in some chic and unique colors.
- This hat seems so basic, but I've had one for years and I love that it fits. No fussing with a cuff and is it trendy now to go over the brows or sit up higher. I can throw it in the washer and dryer, stuff it in a pocket, and it keeps my head and ears warm. And you can't beat that price.
This is the Sale to Prepare for Summer with Swimsuits
I write this as my home is surrounded by ice and snow, but I know from past experience that NOW is the time to buy swimsuits. By time May and June come around, selection is reduced and you have to get what you can. But now, you can get what you want AND get it half-price!

I have had mixed experiences in recent years with Lands' End swimwear and shared my disappointment on my Substack. But one suit that hasn't disappointed me is the SlenderSuit Wrap One Piece Swimsuit. I had it, I loved it, I damaged it, and loved it so much I bought a replacement. And the replacement two years later was the same fit, quality, and design.
This isn't the most innovative or hip suit, but it makes your body look good, supports and separates the boobs, smooths the torso without gas pains, and stays in place if you swim laps or play in the surf.

Based on reviews, it sounds as though Lands' End improved the iconic Tugless One-piece from last year. I plan on ordering one as my trusty black Tugless is starting to fall apart. I also like the look of this X-back version. If you want something a bit more chic, I've been eyeing this V-Neck High Leg Strappy Back One Piece. I like the classic black, but the brown polka dots also intrigue me.

Lands' End is great for rashguards and cover-ups, and it looks as though they listened to customer feedback and improved upon last year's selection.
- This 100% cotton gauze oversized shirt is very chic and classic… and versatile. Throw it on over your swimsuit, tie at the waist with wide leg linen pants, wear as a duster over shorts and a tank.
- Last year, Lands' End had a similar coverup to this but it was a heavy jersey that sopped up water. Now it's a lightweight UPF fabric and IMO looks even cuter.
- My sister has this zip-front hooded rashguard and it makes so much sense. It's easy to put on and take off when you're wet, you can leave it open if you just need to cover your arms, and it looks more like streetwear than traditional rashguards.

This is The Sale To Update Your Wardrobe for Now and The Future
In 2026, I think it's foolish to shop willy-nilly. It's also foolish to buy things you know won't last. I think Lands' End does a good job of merging current trends with classic fits and natural fibers so you get a piece of clothing you can enjoy for years. These are my picks from what Lands' End currently has:
- In the Wardrobe Oxygen Community, there was a discussion about soft pull-on knit pants that look like jeans. Made famous with the Rag & Bone Miramar jeans, many other labels have come out with versions, including Lands' End. Lands' End offers two colors, as well as petite, tall, and plus sizing.
- For more traditional of jeans, I have these wide-legs and love them. I have been considering getting a pair of these straight legs in a lighter color for spring.
- This Mac raincoat is a classic, and gets good reviews. I went through the negative reviews and they're pretty silly (one is complaining it's out of stock, one says the regular is too long for a petite person, one is complaining about a skirt).
- The 100% cotton drifter cableknit is perennially stylish. I own one in ivory and have loved it for years. I also own this flag-print drifter crew and love it. No need to size up, both are a relaxed fit.
- If you are looking for a comfortable easy-care pant that is nicer than sweats, check out the Lands' End Starfish pants. Loved by teachers and those who have a lot of movement in their day but also desire some polish, these pants look good, feel good, and come in a great range of colors, lengths, sizes, and silhouettes.
- Is there any surprise I own this top? If in doubt, size down. It doesn't shrink even if you put it in the dryer.
- If you're looking for high-quality t-shirts, whether you desire an opaque white crew or want some fun colors or stripes, you can't go wrong with the Lands' End Supima Cotton Crewneck. Again, if in doubt, size down.
If I didn't include your favorite from Lands' End, be sure to share it in the comments below. This sale is one not to miss!

I looove Lands End. I have soo many coats, shirts, swimsuits, and a huge tote bag. I’ve had an Extreme Squall Parka for the last 20 years. It kept me warm in single digit temps when I go out doing nature photography. I still have it, though I have thinner packable coats now. Lands End has always been well made and dependable. Thank you for this article- I love a good sale from them!
I’ve been disappointed lately with the fabric quality in so many other brands, that I’ve really come to appreciate Land’s End’s quality even more. I have their drifter sweater and some mariner Breton tops, both 100% cotton, that I really like. I bought a gingham linen and cotton shirt-dress style sundress in 2019 and it’s held up beautifully. I wear it on repeat at least twice a week all summer.
I’m wearing a Lands’ End cotton drifter as I write this! Such great sweaters, and 100% cotton is such a rarity in this day and age.
My first SlenderSuit Wrap One Piece Swimsuit lasted for 15 years and I only had to retire it because the back panel, where it was just a single layer, was nearly fully see through! The replacement was the same high quality and is going strong 5 years later. Definitely a strong recommend!
It’s such a great swimsuit!
I am a total fan of LE because of the fit (5’1/185lb) I own a record # of their cashmere sweaters and cardigans as well as two beloved cashmere hoodies which weren’t offered this year. Unlike many others I have no issue with their cash, wash on delicate in the machine and lay flat to dry never shrinks! I am on my second packable down coat, the slightly longer than hip length. Top and bottom zipper and adjustable hood…it’s also water proof! I have two older hip length packable down vests which I layer on top if it’s super cold, I live where -25C is normal in winter.
My favourite item though are LE’s swim tights! Yup After being treated for melanoma years ago with a nasty scar on my thigh I don’t take chances I own two pairs and wear them along with the swim tops. I think they have them with a skirt attached but I am an ocean swimmer/paddle boarder so don’t like extra material but it’s an option.
I have the serious sweat pants which are so nice especially when hanging around the house and you need to get dressed and look presentable for the Amazon Guy;) fit TTS PL but warning, they shrink, wash in cold and hang to dry. I love mine and glad I have short stubbies!
About sizing. Lately I’ve noticed issues with petite large in tops so I order reg large I could do a RM in some styles( their large is 14-16) pants, coats and cashmere I do order in PL. my two PL vests fit well if slightly large the coat same size is tight it’s new and I think they have ‘shrunk’ a bit. Next time I’d get a PXL. All this to say the sizing can be inconsistent so measure, measure! My husband is on his third pair of LE moccasin shearling lined slippers and that man is fussy-y!
Thank you so much for sharing these helpful recommendations and size feedback! And you’re right, I forgot to mention the awesomeness that is Lands’ End Cashmere!
About 10 years ago, I was standing at an outside Metro station in Feb, waiting for the train and freezing my a** off. Right then and there I decided, no more! I went home, ordered a Lands End squall parka, and never looked back. I loved it so much, I ordered a second one — in the exact same color, just one size up. I now have an XL I wear when I am wearing light layers, and a 1X I wear when I want to add a sweater or sweatshirt. I am SO WARM, I cannot believe it. Highly recommended!
LOL, when I began commuting into DC by Metro back in 2007 was when I realized how inadequate my wool coat was. I upgraded to a Lands’ End long coat (back then called the commuter coat) and it was a gamechanger! Kept that coat for a decade+ until my size changed.
You used to tell us what size you purchased. I found that helpful as I am close to you in size. It’s especially helpful to know if petite sizes work. Petite is 14 or 16 are always iffy.
I have the Squall in Large Petite and it fits well. I do regular not petite in the sweaters because I have fuller arms and it fits more comfortably but for tees, jackets, dresses, I always do petite large.
I LOVE Lands End and I can’t tell you how many pieces I have: dresses, coats, vests. I have an Extreme Squall Parka that is close to 20 years old and keeps my warm on the coldest days. Now I need to check out this sale, even though I don’t need anything, ha ha!
They totally are and I am going to delete them. I have been reusing URLS/pages on my site instead of building new ones as I have thousands that are sitting there with dated information. I completely missed the comments and how they are about something irrelevant in 2024. I appreciate you bringing them to my attention!
