Friday I had the day off. As you can see by the picture, my husband was pretty happy about it! This is a super casual outfit – we started the day by having breakfast with my mom (and Emerson of course!). We then ran a couple errands but spent the rest of the day together really low-key at home.
I am wearing an all-Gap outfit here. A white ribbed tank from this summer, a seafoam green cashmere tank that I bought on the clearance rack at Gap a couple years ago, and my Gap Essential jeans. Silver chain from Ralph Lauren, Reef “Sandy” flip flops.
Hair is next day, just brushed and done. Makeup is pretty basic – Cargo Matte BeachBlush in Tenerife, some Cover Girl LashBlast mascara in Rich Black, Stila Lip Glaze in Fruit Cake.
It was a much-needed brak to have the day off. Life has been so hectic, I can't remember what day it is, and if something I remember is part of a dream, a book I read on the train or reality! Luckily this coming weekend is a five-day one for me. It also is the weekend of my dear friend's wedding and I am looking forward to it! 🙂
Please forgive any spelling errors – Blogger did an upgrade and no longer seems to have a Spellcheck function (UGH). Also the photo upload feature is different so layouts will be a bit different as I play around and see what works for this blog!

A busy day. Started off with banging on the door before 7am with my father-in-law upset because his cell, home phone and DSL had all been turned off because Verizon combined all his plans and somehow in the process decided to cancel it all. Then we had yoga and my husband’s drop-in class had more…
I am a fan of athleisure when it has style. With so many options out there, why stick to basic and boring sweats? When I saw Dressed in Joy athleisure, I was thrilled. Fun colors and prints, gender-neutral fits, and sizes up to XXXL, Dressed in Joy is a Black woman-owned small business by Mikaela Pabon,…

A cold and EARLY morning. Seriously, look through the blinds on my doors – that is DARKNESS and this was taken just before I left the house. My mom is a saint, was at my house at 5:30 this morning to hang out while my husband and I both dashed off to work. I was…
Dress – NY & Company (similar)Necklace – J. Crew (similar)Shoes – Jessica Simpson (similar)Bag – Novica (similar) I wore this dress in this post, but needed to get it in a decent picture. I washed it this weekend (gentle cycle, line dry) and was pleased to have it end up looking like it did when…
My daughter and I recently went to see the Broadway musical Annie at the National Theater in D.C. While theater used to be a time for folks to dress up, these days people wear most anything to shows. I choose to still look dressed up as I find going to the theater a celebration, and…
I really need to scan some pics of me and my husband from when we were babies – she REALLY looks like my husband. Actually she also looks a LOT like my sister! 🙂
I don’t think I’ve ever commented on this blog, that said, In this pic, your husband’s face looks just like Emerson’s. It really should be the other way around, but she definitely looks a lot like him when she grins. Nice pics, enjoy the 5 day weekend!!
