Every year I update this post with what I'm buying and what I already own that I think is worth stocking up on. Some years, I have invited my sister Debbie (my personal beauty guru) to share her favorites. This year it's just me, so everything below is stuff I use, have tested and like, or plan to buy.

Sephora Spring Savings Event Shopping Guide
It may seem as though Sephora has one of these deals every month, but in fact, a discount of up to 20% only happens twice a year. And with tariffs and the current economy, this may be the cheapest price you'll get all year.
Sephora is known for makeup, but the company also carries a wide range of skincare, haircare, body care, and wellness products. We're talking sunscreen, silk pillowcases, supplements, deodorant, showerheads, and items that are HSA and FSA available. Even if you usually miss this Sephora sale, in 2026, it may be worth a quick look.
What's Already in My Makeup Bag
For those who don't follow me on Instagram Stories, you may not know I am one who likes a light touch with a single point of impact when it comes to makeup. Most of the face is a fresh sheer look with the occasional bold lip or statement eye. TBH, while a few are in a pouch in my purse, most of the items below are in my dressing table. But these are the top cosmetics and tools I currently use:
Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Stick Waterproof Eyeliner + Brush | $26
Just as mascara began migrating down my face once I turned 40, eyeliner began smudging in weird ways in midlife and I gave up except for the occasional liquid liner for a special occasion. But this liner stays put. I lift up my lid and wiggle it into my lash line/top edge of my waterline, and then use the brush to smudge out anything that is on my lid. I have a few colors; Fluid Fig is my daily go-to that looks just dark but makes brown eyes pop.
MAKEUP BY MARIO Master Mattes® Eyeshadow Palette: The Neutrals | $56
This is NOT cheap, but I bought it last spring during the Sephora sale, I use two of the colors almost every day and I have yet to hit pan. And I have used almost every single color and find them stellar, easy to use, easy to increase pigment, and it STAYS. This stuff is so good, I have been known to use the darkest brown as a root powder between hair salon sessions. But with this kit you can do a no-makeup look, use it as base for colors, get a smoky eye, or just something with a bit more oomph. Use a flat pencil and wiggle it into your lash line as a liner. Heck, it can even be your brow powder!
Urban Decay 24/7 Moondust Glittery Eyeshadow | $25
As mentioned, I occasionally like a statement eye, especially for a special occasion. And one of my go-tos is this eyeshadow because it's so easy and looks good even if the rest of the face is pretty simple or bare (and IMO, I think it looks great on a face that has experienced life). I use my finger, tap it into the product and then tap on the lid. No need for precision, it's sheer and easy to build or just do a few taps for a fun little shine and it doesn't flake. My favorite color is Space Cowboy.
Urban Decay Moondust Liquid Glitter Eyeliner | $28
Another Urban Decay glittery product, but they just do glitter so well! This isn't your typical liquid liner; it's clear with glitter in it so you dab more than draw. But it can leave an amazing glittery stripe right on your lashline that is powerful but subtle and has people doing a double-take and then complimenting you on it. Wear it solo with a completely bare face, or add it as the jimmies on top of your makeup sundae. I own every color but wear Midnight Cowboy the most.
tarte shape tape™ blurring concealer stick | $32
tarte is known for its shape tape line of concealers, but I have always found them to be way too heavy for my tastes. Earlier this year, tarte sent me all variations of the shape tape concealer, and it included this concealer stick and it made me a convert. The color options are amazing, this is easy to use with a brush or your finger, it can be layered for more opacity, worn on its own or with other products, and it doesn't settle into fine lines. I use 29N.
MERIT The Minimalist | $18
It's a concealer, it's a foundation: The Minimalist is whatever you want it to be. It's also super travel-friendly because it's not a liquid and the tube stays shut. I've been using this off and on for a few years and appreciate the versatility and the color options (Sand is a good choice for me), and it's my travel and purse pouch go-to. MERIT doesn't do sales, so this is a good time to get this product for less.
SEPHORA COLLECTION 10HR Liquid Lipstick | $16
My sister kept recommending this lipcolor, and I finally ordered one last spring sale. And now I own two different colors and am considering a third. It really stays in place but doesn't get all dry and weird feeling. As it fades away, it does it nicely so you don't end up with a weird ring or patchy spots. 01 is the perfect classic red, 78 is a warmer vermillion, and I feel 132 would be a fun choice for this spring and summer.
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Stix | $26
If you like a lipgloss but wish it wasn't so goopy and maybe a bit more opaque, but still super easy to apply… you would love this. I first got it in The MVP which is a gorgeous red, but I think this product excels with the “your lips but better” colors. Is It Fu$$y has a permanent spot in my purse, and High'Biscus is that pink that doesn't look too pink or try-hard.
MERIT Shade Slick | $24
So, MERIT sent me Les Deux and Marrakech and at first I didn't like these. They didn't seem to last long, they weren't super shiny, they weren't super colorful, I didn't get the lip oil hype. And almost a year later, I can say I wear both colors weekly with one Marrakech in my dressing table and one in my purse. They are just so easy, they are so pretty, they can go solo or be more pigmented over lips filled in with liner, or even go over a matte lipstick. And every time I wear Marrakech someone asks me about it.
VIOLETTE_FR Lip Nectar | $29
If you follow me on Instagram Stories, you already know I am a fan of this hydrating lip stain. I kept seeing ads for it, but the woman in the ads (the founder) is this young Jane Birkin-esque beauty. I really didn't think it would work for me… I was oh-so wrong. I love Souci d’Automne which is a soft warm red that is that kind of color that makes you look comfortable with lipcolor. I gave my sister Amarante Noire which is a cool berry that also is incredibly wearable.
What's Already in My Medicine Cabinet
I have been simplifying my skincare routine in recent months, and some of the items that have made the grade are available during the Sephora sale:
Elemis Pro-Collagen Anti Aging Marine Cream SPF 30 | $52-$145
I'm sorry, I know this stuff isn't cheap, but it's really really good. It's so hydrating but not greasy, and it's not super fragrant, and it absorbs fast, and it doesn't leave any feeling on the skin, and it plays nice with makeup. It makes me want to wear sunscreen. I keep trying other products but none really compare.
Dieux Deliverance 3-in-1 Repair Serum | $69
If you want something that just gets the job done without needing a degree in dermatology, and you want something made by a women-founded company that has good ethics and cares about the planet and its customers, try anything from Dieux. I have tried most of the line and like it all, but Deliverance is the one that I love. I use it at night after cleansing.
Skinfix 15% Vitamin C Serum | $69
My skin loves Vitamin C and so I have tried a lot of different brands. Some are really good, some are great and ridiculously expensive, this one from Skinfix is both great and reasonably priced. I use this in the morning before my moisturizer. As an FYI, don't buy Vitamin C in a clear bottle; Skinfix is a nice opaque container to protect the ingredients.
Supergoop! 100% Mineral (Re)setting Powder Face Sunscreen SPF 35 | $35
I keep this in my purse. I am someone who gets sweaty easily, so applying sunscreen over what is already on my face makes a mess. This is super easy, and it really does reset my makeup while also offering sun protection. I also appreciate how travel-friendly it is.
Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protector Clear Stick SPF 60+ | $33
This is another product that maintains permanent residence in my purse. It truly is clear, it's not greasy, and I can swipe it on my face, my ears, my neck, my chest, my arms, my kid, and my husband without much thought and it keeps us all sun-safe and no burning eyes, breakouts, or destroyed makeup. It's great for travel, and it plays nice with makeup and other sunscreens.
What's Already in My Shower
In the shower or on the nightstand, these are the skincare and body care products and tools I currently use and recommend:
Hanni Rich Rinse Body Wash | $33
Hanni was kind enough to send me a bottle of this. That bottle didn't even last a month because the whole family fell in love with it so I bought another. It is super hydrating, but it doesn't cause breakouts on my husband like a lot of body washes do. It is fragranced, but it's not overwhelming or gender-specific and the scent doesn't linger on the skin. A little goes a long way, the bottle is well designed, and I love the ingredients.
Soft Services Theraplush Retinol Hand Cream (Fragrance-Free) | $62
Oh, how I didn't want to like this hand cream. The ads kept being served to me, and I was NOT going to spend $62 on a hand cream. Then Soft Services sent me one, and I liked it so much I have now bought two refills. See, it's $62 for a pod of the hand cream and the fancy-dancy container it goes in. Each pod is $36, and I find it's just as much product as a tube of my previous favorites from Aveda and L'Occitane, but it's less waste and has retinol and I think it does improve the look of my hands. I prefer the fragrance-free version, but there are some lightly scented options.
Soft Services Carea Cream | $40
I love this stuff so much, I did the Theragun hack to get every single drop out of that aluminum bottle. And then I bought another. And then Soft Services gifted me one. And now I am out and will be buying more. It's unscented, it's lightweight, it absorbs fast, but gosh does it hydrate. This is the first body lotion that really dramatically stood out for being radically different from everything else I had tried, and I'm not swayed by a pretty bottle or fancy smell.
What's Already in My Hair Routine
Very few of the haircare products I use are available at Sephora. However, the ones that are, they're pretty great:
T3 Featherweight StyleMax Professional Hair Dryer | $209.99
Dr. Julie Chung, the founder of T3 reached out to me last summer and offered to send me a styling tool. I replied back that I was so appreciative, but I had so little hair at the time I didn't use any tools at all. That being said I shared with her I got a T3 hair dryer back in 2011 and it finally kicked the bucket in 2023 and I was impressed with that kind of quality. And she sent me this hairdryer anyway.
I gave it to my daughter. She used it and said it was so much better than my Hot Tools dryer I handed down to her, she now didn't mind drying her hair. I am growing out my hair and finally got a chance to use it with the diffuser that comes with it. I hate to say it, but an expensive hairdryer can be worth it, and this one from T3 is fantastic from design to weight to power to features to included tools.
Slip Silk Pillowcase | $115
Yes, you can get silk pillowcases on Amazon for like $35, but they're really thin and sometimes rough and I've found if you wash them as often as you should, they're falling apart in just a few months. On the other hand, I got two Slip pillowcases for me and K, we wash them weekly (gentle cycle, line dry), and after THREE YEARS we finally had to replace them. I bought the replacement cases during a holiday sale on another site; during this Sephora sale they'll be the same price.
K18 AirWash™ Dry Shampoo | $24-$48
I hate dry shampoo. It looks ashy in my dark brown hair, it makes my hair feel gummy, it makes my scalp itch… but sometimes it's really great to have. Greasy bangs, gym day on a non-hairwash day, sweaty scalp and running late… I've tried so many dry shampoos and right now, this one from K18 is the only one that really works and doesn't leave me feeling gross. If you haven't tried before, go with the mini version. Like me, you may end up going back for the bigger bottle.
What's Going in My Cart
The sale is my excuse to try things I've been eyeing. Here's what I'm buying this time around.
Benefit Cosmetics Mighty Fine Waterproof Brow Pen | $28
I am of the age where my brows are disappearing, even though I use GrandeBrow. I use this brow/pencil combo from Julep but want something that will survive sweat and a dip in the pool. My friend uses and swears by this so I'm going to try it.
NATASHA DENONA Mini Eye Sculpt Eyeshadow Palette | $29
I find a lot of neutral shadows are just too warm on me; I'm always on the hunt for cool options that aren't gray. My sister loves Natasha Denona shadows and this palette gets rave reviews. For those who like traditional neutrals, it comes in a classic/warmer option too.
fresh Sugar Melt Lip Cream | $25
I have always liked fresh lip products, but not necessarily the packaging. So when I saw fresh came out with this in a tube, I knew I had to get one. I love watermelon flavored lip products, so this is the one that's in my cart.
Kulfi Lassi Lips Staining Lip Oil | $24
Kulfi gifted this to me; I chose the color Rose. It is literally the same exact color as my lips. But I really like how it feels, how it wears, and how it looks. So I am going to buy myself a darker color; I am thinking First Sari.
Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta® Extra Strength Peel Pads | $94
I first used these a decade ago. Loved them. But then brands sent me things and I used those things and loved them, and then I didn't, and would use these peel pads again, love them, and then get something free and switch to that. I've gotten older and I really am at a point where I am over 50 step skincare. I want to clean my skin, add some sort of treatment, and then moisturizer. And these make my skin look happier with just one use, don't need to wait until my skin is dry or whatevs, and they're travel-friendly. I'm going to try them again (FYI you don't need to use them daily).
A Quick Note on Tubing Mascara
If you're not already on the tubing mascara train, the sale is a great time to start. I've tested basically every one out there and wrote a whole guide if you want the full breakdown. My top picks that are included in the Sephora sale are in the widget below:
Please note, this is the same post from previous years of the Sephora sale, so comments below may not make sense in 2026. However, I kept them as community reviews are so helpful. Do share your purchases below!

Thanks for the reminder! Your Sephora sale posts have been so helpful. And I have to give a shoutout to Debbie for recommending the Caudalie Hand & Nail Repairing Cream (or was it you?). It has made a huge difference in my brittle nails after nothing else did. I shared it with my SIL recently and she immediately took a pic so she could order some. 🙂
That was my sister who recommended it. It is stellar!
I love that new Benefit wax! I can finally get my brows on without making a mess. I use alone when I want a very natural look. I combine with pencil when I do a full face.
Grande Brow has a new 2in1 product that is a tinted brow gel with grandebrow serum inside. This has been a game changer for me because my #1 issue with brow serum is forgetting to use it, but I will put on tinted brow gel every day. It has made a major difference in my brows in just a few weeks. I don’t even have to extend the tail of my brow with a pencil anymore.
I don’t need much now but will pick up a new Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Rush. Mine just ran out and I’ve gone through 2 already. Maybe an Urban Decay Moondust in Solstice as I’m about to hit pan on that too.
I love the Charlotte Tillbury Pillow Talk mascara. I have pretty long lashes, so I usually curl and add 1 coat to define them a bit. Also, oily eyelids demand a primer (unless I’m using a stick shadow). I’ve always used Urban Decay’s, but if anyone can recommend something another brand they love, I’d try it.
I trust your tubing mascara reviews. I’m a long time fan of Trish McEvoys High Volume mascara but I’m always looking for one with a little more “oomph.” Curious to see what you think of the Cali Ray one. I know there have been great reviews and I bought it with high hopes. Let’s just say I’m still on the hunt for a great tubing mascara.
Hourglass has a great one! I think i has more oomph and volume compared to the Trish McAvoy one or blinc’s. To me, it’s the tubing mascara most like regular mascara but without the raccoon eyes.
I have been recommended a beauty blender so many times and I’m secretly not sure how to use them. I’ve used a fluffy brush from MAC for my (liquid) foundation for a long time now but I wonder if I should experiment with switching…
The way I use mine is I wet it, and then squeeze out as much moisture as possible. I even squeeze it into a washcloth to capture more. Then I dot on foundation or concealer and use the Beauty Blender to pat it into place. SOme also use Beauty Blenders to apply powders. If the brush works for you, then do it. If it’s not broke you don’t need to spend more at Sephora!
There is a very detailed video on Sephora of how to use it – not just for foundation, but a ton of things! Follow Alison’s link.
As long as we’re talking makeup….as an older (ahem) woman, my eyebrows are disappearing! And the hairs that are left are coarse, unruly, and frequently grey. (Gasp) Please, do you have any recommendations for this?
I really like this product, it’s like a liquid liner but it’s thin like watercolor and I flick around in my brows to fill bare spots and it looks natural even though I have zero skill. And it’s NYX so it’s cheap. It’s the Snatch Eyebrow Tint: https://amzn.to/36VlD0X
A lot of folks prefer this product from NYX which has been called Toppik for brows as it’s a powder that can fill in spots: https://amzn.to/3x3xFzW
And then a colored brow mascara will tame the unruly hairs and tint them a different color. Stick It from NYX is a thickening brow mascara and I think it’s a better tamer than products 5X the price: https://amzn.to/3KbXyBg
I learned from a brow expert to use taupe when you’re going gray, even if you dye your hair. Taupe brows will more more natural than brunette with your skintone. If taupe isn’t available choose an ash brown or gray-brown.
Wow! Thank you!
P, I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I had the same problem. I started using Revitabrow and it has worked miracles. I now have thick gorgeous eyebrows again. I also started dying my eyebrows myself. The day after I do it, it looks a bit like Dan Levy, but then it looks great. I use Refectocil dye after seeing Angie from You Look Fab recommend it.
I bought the Revitabrow from the Nordstrom annual sale and plan to buy it again this year.
Catch the Nordstrom semi-annual sale for NeuBrow! https://bit.ly/3MIRRPm
I use the Neubrow, too (got it at nord’s semi-annual sale a few years again and just bought more). It really works.
The only natural deodorant that works for me is from a local place here in Baltimore, Mt Royal Soaps. I have no affiliation other than being a happy customer of their shampoo bars, miracle salve/balm, and deodorant. https://www.mountroyalsoaps.com/
Off topic but: Have you tried Zuri dresses? Also not affiliated but fell prey to all the ads I kept seeing as an early birthday self-gift. I got a solid color, sort of a persimmon. The dress came in a tote made of fabric scraps from other dress patterns. It is maybe a little longer than I’d like (I’m 5’2″ ish) but I worried the short would be too short. I think it’ll be good for the hot/humid summer since it is airy but I can wear fall/spring with tights/cardigan/jacket/boots.
Thanks for the recommendation! And I haven’t tried Zuri because I LOVE the prints but the silhouette is just not my style. I don’t feel comfortable in a dress of that length, cut, and fabric with my bust and legs. I appreciate the brand so much, but am waiting to see if they carry anything in the future more me.
I too love the prints from Zuri but am also short and busty so worry the look will be sofa cushion rather than artsy insouciance. Also my mind keeps whispering “cultural appropriation?” at me. Still thinking on it.
Thanks for the review – this made me realize my “beautyblender” is actually a cheap dupe. Going to try the real thing!
The OG beauty blender is worth it. I’ve tried so many cheaper versions & they end up gross & cracking / chipping away bits of sponge within a month while the OG is still perfectly fine. One of those times when it’s worthwhile to pay more!
I’m trying the caliray tubing mascara right now too and am liking it a lot so far! I used to use the Clinique tubing one and while I loved the look, I practically had to yank my lashes out at night to remove it. This one gives great volume, absolutely no flaking or smudging, and is pretty easy to remove with warm water and gentle pressure. I’m eager to read your updated mascara review!
That’s great feedback, thank you Jamie!
