With that, aren't I cute today? I got a coupon where I could get 30% off at Ann Taylor and I got this dress and the same in red to be my summer version of the Banana Republic merino shift dresses I have worn the heck out of this winter. I am sooo addicted to dresses, it's really crazy.

It's funny how tastes change; just a couple years ago I don't think I owned a single dress except one necessity for weddings and such. I even went to weddings in pantsuits I hated dresses so much. I hated my legs – big calves, lumpy knees, cankles… but really you see your faults more than others do. As I have gotten older I have stopped worrying about bumps and lumps and faults. People usually notice the lack of self esteem or self-consciousness way before chubby ankles!

Black ponte dress from Ann Taylor, black tights from Target, black heeled oxfords from BCBGirls, silver and black pendant from BP for Nordstrom, silver hoops and cuff bracelet.

Hair was washed and conditioned last night and went to bed with it wet. This morning I took big sections and put around the curling iron and then used a bit of Jonathan Silky Dirt to add definition and smooth.

Makeup is philosophy The Present primer, L'Oreal True Match concealer in W1-3, philosophy The Supernatural in Beige, Nars blush in Orgasm, Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Glossy Rose. Used the Benefit “Pink to Please the Girl, Gold to Get the Guy” compact – the light gold in inner corners and darker gold on lid. Didn't love the look so I used Body Shop eyecolor in Slate in crease and along lash lines. Curled lashes, two coats of Cover Girl LashBlast in black.

Today after work I am meeting one of my bestie friends for a happy hour! Looking forward to it!

  1. My husband can’t believe that after reading your editorial on hating dresses and that “People usually notice the lack of self esteem or self-consciousness way before chubby ankles!” you have SET ME FREE! I have been wanting to start wearing skirts and dresses but even at a very “young” 43 my issues are still there regarding my legs (which hubby doesn’t get). Thank you for giving me permission to show my legs…I’m forever grateful!
