For today's office look, I planned to stick to a simple color palette of black, white, and red. I liked the look of these Ann Taylor red ankle pants with a simple black LOFT t-shirt and my white Caslon stretch twill blazer.

I added black pumps and an arm party of white and gold bracelets. I thought this was a mix of fun bracelets, big and small, gold and enamel. It added an “Alison” touch to an otherwise simple outfit.

But then I remembered I had a few things to take into work so I needed a larger purse. I grabbed the Brahmin satchel, which is both beautiful and practical for heading into the office. I love this bold cobalt blue color, and Brahmin's trademark glossy croco finish makes it even more eye-catching.

Not until my husband was taking my pictures before driving off to work did I realize I ended up being accidentally patriotic. He said, “You look like Patriotic Office Barbie” and I had to laugh. It was accidental patriotism, but I am okay with that. I am proud to be an American!

  1. Not sure Chris, I haven’t been on the hunt but if I see any I will let you know. I do always trust brands like Lands’ End for such things, I know a friend who recently got a denim (not white) jacket fromASOS.com that he loves (they have a Curve line for extended sizes, free shipping & returns).

  2. Allie,

Speaking of white jackets, what are your store/manufacturer recommendations for a white jeans jacket?

    Thanks!

  3. Allie,

Speaking of white jackets, what are your store/manufacturer recommendations for a white jeans jacket? I don’t expect you to do all the work. I looked at about 10 different store’s website. Plenty of indigo jackets but no white.

    Thanks!

    Chris

  4. red, white and blue is very much the color scheme of this year – I see it all over the place and not usually as someone trying to be patriotic!

  6. I just wanted to add to the other comments of  support. I am a lurker! Your blog was one of the first I ever started reading a few years ago and I still follow you. I live in a different country to you and I’m a totally different shape and size to you but I love your blog because you show it is possible to be stylish and trendy without conforming to the fashion industry idea of a woman. You rock!

  8. Your hair looks super adorable today and I love, love, love the bracelets!

I should have worn a blue shirt with my white shorts today – I already carry a red purse! (Obviously, I’m not at work today – even I can’t wear shorts to work unless it’s Field Day.)

  10. I love the red and blue together!

BTW, I notice that you call hubby Karl instead of K or hubby like you have in the past.

  12. I wore white cropped jeans today and a blue shirt, but totally flubbed up the unintentionally patriotic look by wearing turquoise accessories.  Boo-urns.  I can’t even unintentionally do something right, you know?  😉
