I cannot express how PSYCHED I am that Universal Standard now carries petites! I got the Universal Standard Geneva dress a year or so ago after seeing it look so great on fellow bloggers and on the US site. However on me, it just didn't work. I struggled to style it for the blog and to be honest, I never wore it again. Universal Standard hinted that they were coming out with petites and I was thrilled. They invited me up to their showroom in New York City to interview me about being petite and to try on some of their new petite collection. One thing I tried on was the petite version of the Geneva dress and it fit great! In fact, all of the petite line from Universal Standard feels as though it was custom made for my 5'3″ self.
Universal Standard interviewed four of us petite women who wear their line and compiled our thoughts and reactions to their petites collection, The Edit Petitesin the a video at this link. This week I received a box from Universal Standard containing many pieces from their petites line, including the Geneva dress.
I got these earrings several weeks ago and adore them. They make such a statement, are lightweight, and are a fantastic price. Amazing how a pair of earrings like this can transform an outfit!
I specifically wore this Universal Standard Geneva dress with a pair of ankle booties because when I wore the regular sized Geneva dress on the blog about a year ago, I styled that one with booties. I felt it would give a better gauge of the difference in length. However, I plan to wear this dress with my Puma or Cole Haan sneakers, my white EVA Birkenstocks, and could easily dress this up with a pair of heeled sandals (I think they'd be fun with my magenta Franco Sarto sandals) or even my Rothy's Point flats. These booties are incredibly comfy (gotta love Naturalizer), and I find them working with a variety of looks. This weekend I wore them with dark jeans and a black and white top for brunch; this week I wore them to an event for cabi with release-hem cropped jeans and a blue and white blouse. Since they're white, there's little contrast with my pasty legs and don't cut off my figure like black or even tan booties. If white isn't your thing, these boots also come in black.
I'll be sure to share more from the Universal Standard petites collection in the near future. If you have any questions regarding the fit or the line in general, ask them in the comments and I'll be happy to answer!

While I’ve known of and worn the clothing line cabi for several years, 2017 was the year where I really got to understand the brand, the people behind it, and what makes it so special. I had the opportunity, along with a few other bloggers, to fly to LA and dine with cabi’s executive team….
Friday I worked from home, so no pictures. Nothing too interesting to be captured, I wore the same thing as Thursday, but with flip flops and a different white tank. Friday night, I had my women’s circle but had to miss it because I had to care for my new dogs. Yep, we are now…
Top: LOFT | Skirt: LOFT | Bag: Latico | Shoes: Nine West | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Some days are longer than others and it’s nice when your outfit lasts as long as you do. On this day I got to work at 7am, left early for a doctor’s appointment, stopped by Union Market in DC to…
The Nordstrom Fall Sale is here, and it’s a fantastic sale for winter must-haves – coats and boots. From wool walking coats to puffy parkas, the Nordstrom Fall Sale has an amazing variety of outerwear at amazing prices. Below I styled a few of the coats all with items from the sale to show you…
Back at work and back to wearing things other than yoga pants and faded hoodies… I still have a bit of a cough but otherwise feel back to normal. Yesterday I wore ivory tropical wool trousers from Talbots, a black sweater shell from Ann Taylor Loft and an indigo merino cardigan I picked up for…
Help! I ordered the XS Petite Geneva dress in Berry. The packing list says XS Petite in Berry, the plastic bag that the dress came in is marked XS Petite in Beet Red, and the dress says XS. I have a US V-neck t-shirt dress in XS Petite, and that is what’s clearly stamped on the back of the dress. I tried the dress, compared it to photos on this blog, and am not entirely sure whether it’s the right size or not.
Now I’m wondering if I need to try this in Petite. When I tried it on at the SoHo store it just didn’t hang right. And the arm holes were too low(?) showing my bra. I’m 5’4”-5’5” (depending on the day). But I have a short torso. This just might work.
Wow! what a huge difference in length from your previously styled geneva! I have the olive one two and would consider getting the petite. I’m 5’5″ but have only a 28/29 inseam so that might be a great fit. Thanks for styling with boots in both.
Love the dress. Wondering how much body the fabric has, as I am not big busted so need the fabric to have enough body to hang from the shoulders, not cling to the belly.

Follow up: I measured the dress, took some photos, and email US. Thank you.

Definitely a better fit for you. Have you thought about a blush colored bootie or a pale buff?

I love the dress on you – and not convinced about the boots. If you like them, that’s all that matters.
I don’t think they are necessarily more flattering than another shoe but I do find it fun to switch it up! 🙂
