Though it may be snowing outside in the Nation’s Capital, I know it will be toasty warm in my office. I never understand why bad weather forces women to look like shlumps. 1. Randa, this week in DC has been GLORIOUS! We have had the windows open every day and night and it has been breezy and cool. It feels like New England. I heard it’s supposed to rain and get hot again this weekend. 🙁

  2. Allie, you are looking good! I knnow the weight gain from having a baby is slow to melt (if you’re doing it right) But I can surely see your body coming back, better than ever (read: those mommy curves).

  3. Looking great! And you lost that baby fat QUICK! Curious, is it cooler in DC? In Ga, it’s too hot to even consider wearing long sleeves let a long a scarf!

  4. YOu look hot. First the top is genious, I am going out looking for one like that today. Second, your hair looks so different parted that way. It is amazing how little things make such a difference. I get more ideas from you than from a magazine.

  5. Cute outfit, I wish I could finds jeans that fit me that well! Love your makeup, too, especially the lipgloss.

  6. Oh it is still there. I gained a hair over 50 lbs and still have almost 20 to go. Granted a BUNCH are in these massive breastfeeding boobs, but a lot is everywhere else.

Not much – I haven’t exercised much more than a hike or two on weekends with the baby and the dogs. Even then they have lately been more like walks. We try to do at least one hour-long walk per weekend and walk when we have to go to market, to pick up takeout when we’re too busy to make dinner, to the farmers market.

Because I am breastfeeding I am trying to make sure I eat healthy food. No sodas, no HFCS, no crazy dyes and chemicals when possible. But I didn’t do a lot of that before. I drink a LOT of water (at least 64 oz at work and another 16 oz at least at night and like 8 in the AM).

I had a ravenous appetite until a month or two ago when it normaled out to how it was pre-pregnancy. That has helped a lot with getting the weight off – instead of eating by habit, stopping to listen to my body. I eat oatmeal almost every AM for breakfast (helps with milk production) and add flax oil, nutritional yeast and some fiber to it. For lunch I usually bulk up with soup and salad or sandwich and often a treat like a brownie or cookie. Dinners I eat on small plates or bowls so if I am truly hungry I have to go back into the kitchen for seconds. We do a lot of fresh vegetables, stir fries, grilling, etc.

I think also the lessened amount of alcohol helps. I still enjoy a beer or glass of wine from time to time but I don’t down a few with friends every Saturday night like I used to. Don’t like to pump and dump, and also these days it only makes me sleepy, not tipsy 🙂

  7. I like that look on you. I really like those jeans on you.

Just out of curiosity: how did you manage to get your pregnancy weight off (besides breastfeeding, that is?) You look great.
